Do you have a special interest or gift in working with people? Do you have a subject close to your heart that you would
want to contribute to our youth? If so, then you found the right place to share your talent and experience.
ASCC always welcomes volunteers that would benefit the young lives of our youth who are in the foster care and
juvenile justice system.
We believe that knowledge is power and that the more time we invest in our children and youth in the community, the
stronger our society will become. Our target is to ensure that at the end every youth feels more knowledgeable,
more motivated and glad not to have missed this invitation.
Guest speakers often visit with our youth. Sometimes it is in a large group setting or can be one on one with the youth.
It gives them a connection to the public and prepares them for stronger independence. The impact that is left with the
youth is incredible. Even one hour out of the day with a youth can teach them continuous actions that will stay with
them for many years. We work diligently with our youth in educating them on so many subjects and areas to protect them
and build their independent living skills.
Past speakers include police officers who talked with our youth about gang awareness; local bank employees on how to
manage money and opening savings accounts or the fire department on safety in the home. We welcome you to share your
background and experience with our youth.
Tutors are a valuable asset to ASCC too. For example, a CPA showing a teen how to complete and file a tax return; someone
showing them how to complete an application or the do’s and don’ts of job interviews; working with a student on preparing
for SAT, ACT or GED testing; homework sessions; and the list goes on and on.
Simply complete the volunteer application and submit it to our organization and our volunteer coordinator will contact
you for more information and let you know how your experience can positively affect the children of our community.
